“another” has the following meanings:
1) One more of a group of things that have already been mentioned or talked about.
For example: One of my sons is an engineer. Another son is a doctor.
2) another + <time, money or distance> means “more.”
For example: I need another 5 minutes. (I need 5 more minutes.)
“other” Several more of a group of things that has already been mentioned or talked about.
For example: Some countries are rich. Other countries are poor.
“the other” means the last of a group of things.
For example: There are three men. One is tall. One is medium. The other is short.
“the others” means the remaining few things in a group.
For example: There are ten men. One is tall. One is medium. The others are short.
